BIGFOOT IN CONNECTICUT

VOLUNTOWN, Conn. (WTIC/CNN Newsource /WKRC) — A reported Bigfoot sighting in rural Connecticut is generating buzz after a national research organization deemed the eyewitness account credible, though many local residents remain unconvinced.

The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) said the sighting occurred during the early morning hours of July 5 near Pachaug State Forest, Connecticut's largest state forest.

According to the organization, the witness provided such a detailed description that investigators gave the report their highest level of credibility.

Despite that assessment, neighbors interviewed by WTIC expressed skepticism.

"Anything's possible these days, but, you know, I have never seen a Bigfoot," resident Peter Gautieri said.

Another nearby resident, who asked not to be identified, suggested shadows, fatigue and darkness can play tricks on people's perception.

"We live in a society with cameras and recording devices and sensors everywhere," the resident said. "To say that something is escaping everyone nationwide "

Still, some longtime residents say the dense woods of Pachaug State Forest, which spans more than 26,000 acres, would be as likely a place as any if Bigfoot exists.

"Every once in a while, if it's really quiet and still, you'll hear like a branch pop in the distance," resident Richard Fedor said. "It makes you wonder."
